OpenHaus

Event

The OpenHaus event is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the artistic world of the Bridderhaus residence. Art lovers, artists, neighbors, curious passers-by, everyone is invited to visit the artists' residence, to discover the new building and the contemporary and ecological extension, to meet the artists through the opening of their studios, exhibitions, and project presentations. You can also get creative in one of our crafty workshops, and enjoy some food and while listening to a special music set afterwards.

  • 16h00 – 22h00 : Exhibitions

OpenChapel by Hisae Ikenaga:

The presentation in the chapel of the Bridderhaus during the OpenHaus Day corresponds to a series of previous art pieces of the artist Hisae Ikenaga, and some ideas for new projects that have arisen within one month, since the beginning of her residency, until present-day. The idea is to give substance to the finished pieces and the process of the new series - approaches that could be an obvious continuation or something that, at first glance, does not have a direct relation to anything. A mediator will gladly give you explanations about the artwork.

Papillons de résistances by Claudia Passeri:

During the OpenHaus event, Claudia Passeri will present the evolving set of " Papillons de résistance " created during the tables d'hôtes (hosts table) organized by the artist.

  • 16h00 – 22h00 : Artist's studio

OpenApdikt by Julia Cottin :

Julia Cottin opens the doors of her studio at the Bridderhaus to you. Come and discover what is happening behind the scenes of an artistic work process, developed around simple gestures inscribed in the tradition of the artistic genre (carving, cutting, assembling, stacking...) and operated on wood as the material of choice. A mediator will gladly give you some explanations about this artwork which will be on display at the Konschthal from the 22st of July 2023 on.

  • 16h00-22h00 : Project presentation

Presentation “Earth&Text” workshop:

During this workshop, Izumi is proposing to two school classes from the elementary school and to one group of elderly people, an introduction to ceramics where the participants are able to create a plate from a slab of clay shaped with a text stamped in the clay using small edible letters. This workshop is a response to Claudia Passeri's artist residency and her Table d'hôte project "Papillons de résistance". The plates will be shown in the area of the Bridderhaus restaurant during the OpenHaus event.

"Venetian monotype" workshop with Maryna Rozhko (16h00-18h00)

The artist photographer Maryna Rozhko proposes a workshop to discover the printing technique called "Venetian Monotype", a technique invented and initiated by the artist photographer Roman Tcherpak living in Venice. This printing technique allows you to create a print derived from a digital image on varied materials. It is simple but very fascinating. On a regular sheet of paper, an image is printed with a laser printer. Then, with natural materials paint is applied. And finally, the print is made. This printing technique is completely original and each print turns out unique. It gives new life to photography. Its continuation...

Woodcutting is one of the so-called relief printing techniques. An image is printed on a sheet of paper from the pattern on a block of wood.

This process allows us to work on notions related to the imprint, the reverse and the right side, the shadow, and the light, the empty and the full

  • 20h00 – 23h00 : Music

Open. Play. par Balkenstein Stulpnagel

Balkenstein Stulpnagel, former guitarist of the legendary avant-gardists F.O.C., Friends Of Carlotta (deins ist, was der Hund macht), former head of the no less legendary guitarists Rhüm Agricole (Die Krautwickel darauf setzen), creator of the red-heavy series of paintings Der lipidäre Trieb (yes, he also painted), and author of the fabulous journalistic political satire Opgepikt (which however, is written under the name of Pascal Steinwachs, for whatever reason), is giving a public insight into his wildly proliferating CD collection for the first time.

However, and this is the special thing: Balkenstein is not a DJ, but puts in one CD after the other: Open. Play. Open. Play. Open. Play. Open. Play...

Balkenstein's musical taste is both, universal and multipolar. If you like Keiji Haino, Wolfgang Voigt, Jeff Mills and/or Träd, Gräs och Stenar, you might get your money's worth at the Bridderhaus. But it's also possible that Balkenstein will only play the same Britney Spears song on repeat for three hours.

We'll know more on the 8th of July...
