OpenHaus 2026
OpenHaus 2026 invites the public to immerse themselves in the artistic universe of the Bridderhaus residency. Art lovers, artists, neighbours and curious visitors are invited to discover the residency, meet the artists through open studios, residency presentations and project showcases, participate in creative workshops and share convivial moments around music and food.
This edition enriches the event with a new dimension by opening itself further to the city and its inhabitants. OpenHaus unfolds throughout Esch-sur-Alzette through several artistic proposals taking place in public space between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, turning the Bridderhaus into a place for exchange, encounters and co-creation with those who live in and shape the city.
Participants: Alexandra Lichtenberger, César Bazaar, Clémentine Davin, Emilio López-Menchero, Robin Bigret, Sacha Hanlet, Sergio Manique, Them Lights, Vincen Beeckman ; as well as Gabriel Folli and Charl Vinz (as part of the 2026 France/Luxembourg cross-residency programme for research and artistic creation, jointly organised by La Malterie Arts Visuels (Lille) and the Bridderhaus).
Off-site programme | 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Grenz - Walk from the Bridderhaus to the Grenz district by Clémentine Davin and Vincen Beeckman, in collaboration with the Escher Conservatoire, Café Arcoense and Casa Kriola (departure at the Bridderhaus) *
Clémentine Davin and Vincen Beeckman invite you on a walk through the Grenz district to meet the people who work and bring life to the neighbourhood every day. Vincen, artist and photographer, will guide participants throughout this commented walk, introduced by a performative reading of a text written by Clémentine and performed by three theatre students from the Conservatoire of Esch-sur-Alzette. Along the route, the walk will be punctuated by different moments of encounter: discoveries of places, exhibitions, conversations and even a small concert will shape this sensitive exploration of the district. This walk is part of the research and immersion work carried out by Clémentine Davin and Vincen Beeckman during their residency at the Bridderhaus over the past months, focusing on the Grenz district, its inhabitants and the dynamics shaping it.
(Participants are invited to continue the programme at Place de la Résistance and take part in Emilio López-Menchero’s procession)
- 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm | Shared Stories - Drawing workshop and walk (departure at the Bridderhaus), for teenagers and adults *
5:00 pm– 6:00 pm | RES(ch)ISTANCE - Participatory procession by Emilio López-Menchero (departure in front of the National Museum of Resistance, Place de la Résistance, Esch-sur-Alzette) *
Take part in a collective and artistic procession through Esch-sur-Alzette imagined by artist Emilio López-Menchero. Inspired by popular Neapolitan processions from southern Italy, this contemporary walk proposes a civic reinterpretation: a procession where image, memory, music and movement meet in public space. Carried by participants, large banners created during the residency will bring figures of resistance into the streets. Between the National Museum of Resistance and the Bridderhaus, the procession will take these memories out of the museum and place them back into circulation in an open, collective and intergenerational atmosphere. Join us to walk together, carry the images and accompany the procession. Visitors without registration are welcome to watch the procession and rejoin the programme upon its arrival at the Bridderhaus.
Programme at the Bridderhaus | 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
- 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm | Open studios and residency presentations by Vincen Beeckman & Clémentine Davin, Emilio López-Menchero, Robin Bigret, Gabriel Folli and Charl Vinz
During OpenHaus, the Bridderhaus opens the doors of its studios and invites the public to discover the research, creations and presentations developed by the resident artists over the past months.
- 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm | TEXTURΞS - Immersive installation by Them Lights (Sacha Hanlet and Sergio Manique)
Presented for the first time as an immersive installation at the Bridderhaus, TEXTURΞS invites visitors into a hypnotic universe where sound, image, texture and movement constantly transform. Created through experiments with pigments, chemical reactions, ferrofluids, metallic particles and macro-filmed light effects, the project generates vast visual landscapes projected into the chapel space: oceans of ink, volcanic textures and moving abstract worlds. Through projection and mapping, Sacha Hanlet and Sergio Manique, together with David Laplant and Petrit Jung, transform the chapel into an immersive sensory experience between matter, light and moving image.
- 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (8–14 years old) & 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm (teenagers and adults) | Workshop - Create your own cement tile! with César Bazaar (limited spots) *
César Bazaar invites participants to discover cement tiles through creative, playful and accessible workshops. Using a travelling method developed by the collective, each participant creates their own tiles while experimenting with cement as an artistic material. Pigments, shapes, patterns and textures become tools to understand the making of these objects that have been part of architecture for more than a century. Between craftsmanship, experimentation and play, the workshop invites participants to manipulate, observe and invent through a joyful hands-on experience.
- 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm & 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm | Shared Stories of Resistance by Alexandra Lichtenberger (open to all), drop-in workshop no registration required
Participatory workshop with costume designer Alexandra Lichtenberger around stories of resistance. Linked to Emilio López-Menchero’s civic procession project, participants are invited to contribute to a collective artwork: a garland of banners created using stencils, fabrics and words inspired by personal ideas of resistance, solidarity and commitment. An open workshop for all audiences between textile creation, collective memory and civic expression.
- 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm | Discussion between Emilio López-Menchero and Christian Mosar, artistic director of the Bridderhaus (FR)
Following the procession, Emilio López-Menchero and Christian Mosar will discuss the project, the ideas behind it and the historical, social and artistic references connected to this contemporary procession.
- 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm | Studio visit with Christian Mosar, artistic director of the Bridderhaus (FR)
- 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm | DJ set by Tatinho, in collaboration with Casa Kriola
- 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm | TEXTURΞS - Live audiovisual performance by Them Lights (Sacha Hanlet and Sergio Manique), limited spots *
Them Lights presents TEXTURΞS as an immersive audiovisual performance inside the singular atmosphere of the Bridderhaus chapel. Between concert, experimental cinema and installation, TEXTURΞS immerses the audience in a constantly transforming world where sound, image, light and movement merge live. Created from macro-filmed experiments involving pigments, chemical reactions, ferrofluids, metallic particles and liquids, the project unfolds large-scale abstract landscapes accompanied by a live soundtrack performed by Sacha Hanlet and Sergio Manique on synthesizers. Between cinematic tension, organic textures and futuristic atmospheres, TEXTURΞS offers a hypnotic and immersive sensory experience
