Studio Visit

Mémoire et Migration

22.04.2026 > 18:00 - 22:00
Studio visit

Two photographic albums found on a sidewalk in Brussels initiated a research residency led by Cécile Rivet and Émilie Pierson at the Bridderhaus. The project questions theirabandonment and explores what it means to engage with stories that are not one’s own. The investigation partially retraces a history connected to migration from Southeast Asia in the 1970s–1980s, in the context of the Boat People, and reflects on what it means to leave a country and to transmit memory. Parallel workshops opened a creative space around contemporary experiences of exile and reconstruction. The final presentation brings together images, hypotheses and artistic productions in a shared moment — to remember and to imagine more just futures.

In collaboration with Lycée Aline Mayrisch (Immanuel and Sky), SINGA (Ahmet, Hasan, Murat, Kerim, Lucia, Yonas and Tekleab), and Nos Tribus.

Program of the night:

  • 6 pm: Opening of the studios and presentation of the residency retrospectives
  • 7 pm: Studio Visit - conversation with the artists Emilie Pierson & Cécile Rivet and participants (Lycée Aline Mayrisch and SINGA)

The evening will conclude with a relaxed aperitif — an informal moment to continue conversations and share impressions.

The event runs from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
