Studio Visit and Publication launch – Billy Jump

Studio visit

Billy Jump invites you to get a glimpse into their workings during their three-week residency at the Bridderhaus. The collective explores local water industries through score and performance making, launching their first publication with written scores and instructions in combination with movement, sound, sculptural and performative engagements with Riso as both material and technology. Billy welcomes fellow swimmers and the water-curious to join their publication launch and water-based practice. Water will be served.

The Bridderhaus regularly organises encounters with resident artists. These can take the form of a visit, an informal conversation, a performance, etc., with the format left to the discretion of each artist in their own studio. They take place over a cosy apéritif.

BILLY JUMP is a collective of artists exploring transdisciplinary performance practices. Founded in 2023 by Clio Van Aerde, Maja von Kriegstein and Karolina Rupp, it is based in Luxembourg, Berlin and The Hague. Billy Jump is a fictional alter ego of its co-founders.

It adopts ecofeminist and contextual methodologies, favouring collective and socially engaged approaches. It challenges artistic individualism by valuing collective creation under equitable conditions and reinvesting self-care as a social practice.

Billy Jump is inspired by the connective properties of water, its ubiquity and the tensions associated with it. We explore its domestic and urban use and the absurdity of certain practices, such as using drinking water for toilets.

In Berlin (2023), we studied the domestic qualities of water, while in residence at Bâtiment 4 (Esch-sur-Alzette, March 2025), we explored local water-related narratives and continued our research into Luxembourg's hydro-industrial heritage.

The publication launch and performance will begin at 7pm.
