Alexandra Uppman
Alexandra Uppman is a Luxembourg-based artist of Luxembourgish and Swedish speaking Finnish origins. Working primarily through drawing, sculpture, andinstallation, her practice explores atmospheres, folklore, ecology, and the emotional connections between nature, identity, and belonging.
A graduate of the École de Recherche Graphique in Brussels, she draws inspiration from the forest as both a physical and symbolic space that brings together her diverse roots and informs her reflections on home. Influenced by metal music culture, she approaches her subjects through an emotional lens, often creating immersive and atmospheric works. Her current research focuses on bees and their habitats, honouring the fragile state of forests and their inhabitants while drawing attention to the importance of pollinators and the landscapes they sustain.
For the first half of her time at the Bridderhaus, she has been creating works for her upcoming solo show Anvil Dust, curated by Danielle Igniti at Galerie du Théâtre here in Esch. For the second half, she will continue creating works through ceramics and woodworking, as well as drawings.
