Toucher terre - Film screening & Apéro debate

In the framework of Earthbound. Worms, Soil, Decay

Screening

In collaboration with the LUCA and as part of the project "Earthbound. Worms, Soil, Decay", curated by d-o-t-s (Laura Drouet / Olivier Lacrouts), LUCA is hosting an evening screening followed by an aperitif & discussion.

The evening will begin with the screening of the film Toucher terre, which explores the revival of raw earth construction – a material as ancient as architecture itself.
Experts in archaeology, material science, architecture, and construction techniques reveal the many dimensions of earthen buildings, echoed by the progress of a so-called “participatory” construction site.

Apprentices learn how to handcraft an earthen wall, mixing in straw and water found on site. From soil to wall, from hand-mixed clay to high-tech construction, it’s an extraordinary journey through what often seems ordinary: the raw material of earth and the act of building.

With: Carine Oberweis (architect, president of the NGO Iwwerliewen) and Mouad Ait Hadda (architect, production manager at Geobloc).

Moderated by Laura Drouet and Olivier Lacrouts from d-o-t-s.

Co-organised with the LUCA - Luxembourg Center for Architecture.
