Artist Louisa Clement explores in her work what it means to be human in an era shaped by technological, scientific, and political change. Through photography, video, installation, and sculpture, she examines the boundaries between the body and technology, reality and the digital world, as well as autonomy and external control. Works such as representative (2021), an AI-controlled robotic clone of herself, Compression (2023), Believers (2023), candid (2024), and Body of Knowledge (2024) engage with questions of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, embodiment, knowledge, identity, and vulnerability. Increasingly, Clement questions what happens when knowledge, memories, and parts of our identity are outsourced from the body and entrusted to technological systems.

During her time at the Bridderhaus, she would like to deepen this exploration of disembodiment and investigate what the body means today, where its boundaries lie, and how they are changing through technological, emotional, and digital developments. At the heart of her research is the question of how we can situate ourselves and our bodies when the boundaries between physical and digital existence are becoming increasingly blurred.
