Residents

The artist's objective for the residency at Bridderhaus will focus on the themes of precarious common goods, social control and the quest for a form of romantic salvation. The residency will be dedicated to a period of research and reflection, while also giving rise to the creation of small paintings, drawings, texts and the recording of musical pieces.

During the residency, a new series will be developed around the theme of memory and forgetting. Memories overlap, black areas dominate the image, perforations reveal the base. This premise opens up a pictorial adventure, where words engraved in blue stone become stones of memory.

As part of their TEXTUR>ES project, the duo explores the microcosm of matter by combining contemporary art, music and macro imagery. Through ferrofluid, projections and mapping, the team reveals invisible metallic interactions, accompanied by organic and futuristic sound creation.

Mike Bourscheid is currently presenting a two-person exhibition with artist Vanessa Brown at the Centre national de l'audiovisuel (Luxembourg) and is part of a group exhibition entitled Rohkunstbau 28 at Schloss Altdöbern in Germany.

Wolfgang Müller (b. 1957 in Wolfsburg), lives and works as an author, musician and artist in Berlin.

Four artist duos are in residence at the Kulturfabrik between Mai and November 2023 and accomodated at the Bridderhaus.

Born in 1981 in Chalon-sur-Saône (FR), Julia Cottin lives and works in Paris. She studied at the “Ecole supérieure d'art et design” in Saint-Etienne and at the “Art Institute of Chicago”. In parallel to her practice as a sculptor, the artist produces numerous graphic works (embossing, watercolours, gouaches, pigments on paper, mixed media).

We don't know what kind of salon Helen Buchholtz, the Esch composer, would have hosted. So we reinvent it, we reinterpret it while focusing on this highly colourful character, her music, family and activities, her entourage, her period, her birthplace, Esch-sur-Alzette, and the European context.

In perfect syntony with the world he grew up in, Sébastien Mettraux adopts subjects representative of the Swiss environment: the industrial sector, fallout shelters and dream villas promoted by local real estate agencies. Standing out like powerful symbols of a period and a profoundly Swiss way of thinking, these subjects make up the artist's vocabulary.

A joint project with the Mobile radio artist duo (Sarah Washington and Knut Aufermann) and Radio ARA, the Luxembourg radio station. In the framework of Esch2022, European Capital of Culture, this project will be broadcast from 18 June to 25 September 2022. It consists of two daily programmes: one 22-hour radiophonic artistic production, and a 2-hour live lunchtime radio programme from a local kitchen. The project also includes two one-month artist residencies and a programme of public events.
